Hi everyone!

I'm a 24 year old who was diagnosed with Endo and Adhesions 2 years ago.  My bowel and colon are both adhesed.  As well as this I was told I have IBS.  Unfortunately the only way to get rid of the pain of the first two is by surgery however this just makes the disease worse, so basically I have to cope with them.  This doesn't help with IBS.  Does anyone else suffer from this problem?  My dietician has told me to stop eating wheat but I still have extreme pain and discomfort.  I've started feeling really depressed and don't seem to be able to get myself out of this rut - can anyone help?

Unfortunately I don't have any words of wisdom for you, as I don't suffer from Endo or Adhesions. Hopefully someone will come along shortly who can help.

Hi Jaz24. I too suffer from all 3. How were you diagnosed? I was diagnosed via a laparoscopy and at the same time they cleaned up any endo they could see and cut a few adhesions. This was AFTER a hysterectomy. Wish I could say it helped but I honestly didn't know I had endo until undergoing the lap for lower right quadrant pain that still is with me. Did you know that there are medications out there for endo? I have no idea on whether they work or not. If you go to www.hystersisters.com you can ask about them there. Other than that, I take Celexa, an anti-depressant, to deal with the pain.

Thanks guys for your support - nice to know that you aren't on your own. Softy my endo and adhesions are exactly like yours especially the lower right pain which I still have and it is fairly severe. I was also diagnosed through lap where they cleaned and cut away. I didn't realise there are medications available and the doctors haven't mentioned anything to me. The best advice they have is to eat well, keep fit and start having children early on!!! Last one not being too helpful while I'm young and still want to travel!

Have children? They tell you do to that for a medical cure? Ugh. I'd be easy, though, and make them take the thing out because I dislike children immensely, so that would be two birds with one stone, lol. My mother had endometreosis, though, and having me didn't help her at all. I think I ended up making her worse, so she had a hysterectomy when she was something like 32. She's been much better ever since.

Can they not give you some drugs to stop the endometriosis? It's my understanding that that condition is caused by developing a uterine lining on the outside of the uterus. I take a contraceptive called Depo Provera and one of its side affects is that it keeps you from having a period--no lining build up. Might that help you keep from getting the endometreosis again?

And do they not think that the lesions on your intestines are causing your bowel problems? Not quite the same thing as having IBS, which is a functional problem. People with Inflammatory Bowel diseases, like ulcerative colitis and crohn's, develop ulcers/lesions. Maybe someone over on their board could give you some advice too? Maybe there's even drugs to help heal those?

I also have IBS, Endo & Adhesions. What a combo! They never can seem to find my left ovary for all of the adhesions I have. It's there, but not traceable!

May I suggest you get a new gyno? Having children is not a cure, just a stop-gap measure that sometimes eases the symptoms after delivery. Keyword - sometimes. Mine got worse after I had my one and only child. I have had every treatment short of a hysterectomy (not a cure, I'm healthy, it's staying). I was on Lupron twice in 5 years. Now that worked wonders. Only thing is with Lupron, you're in chemical menopause (woo hoo) so you have to suffer through those symptoms. Anytime you do something chemical, symptoms are much worse.

First go around, not bad. I had no period for about 8-10 months, really helped for about 18 months and then of course, everything goes back to normal.

Second go around way stronger menopause symptoms (took light dosage of natural hormones prescribed by the doctor), had about the same result as above.

Lupron is a good treatment, of course they probably have something different and better now. This was about 10 years ago.

I still have all 3 and I'm still waiting for 'natural' menopause to kick in. I'm old enough, but I'm still waiting for something to happen.

Birth control pills, Depo and other forms of hormones can be used to regulate or temporarily stop your periods/endo, which can provide relief. You might also check out the endometriosis association for more information as well. They were a godsend to me years ago.

Hey Jaz24. Did you feel better following your lap? Do you have any other symptoms? Fevers, diarrhea, etc. Have you had a colonoscopy, small bowel follow through...? The right hand side pain I currently have is quite painful. It's only in one spot and doesn't seem to let up much. Ugh!

Thanks again for all the reply's. It's so nice to know that there are other people going through the same thing as me. Strangely enough the lap helped me more psychologically because I finally realised what the pain was from but the pain in the lower right side continued. I have tried detoxing this week and feel a fair bit better so I'm assuming it's something I'm eating that's making me feel so bad. I've been told to stay off wheat and for some reason rice also makes my stomach terribly bloated and I get bad constipation. Trying to introduce different foods to see what else effects me - such a shame cause I'm one of these people who LOVES my food!!!

Hello,   I have endo, IBS, and adhesions...  I had a hysterectomy at age 35 which was 6 years ago...  I thought that would be a cure all.  It was not...  It did help with the painful periods but not with the IBS...  I still suffer daily with that..  They tell me now that they could go in and look at the adhesions but the problem with that is that they could perferate the bowel and I could have a colostomy because of that..  So that is really scary..   It is really frustrating going to doctor after doctor and no one can help..  I had 5 laporoscopies before the hysterectomy to try to get pregnant.   It did not work..  I ended up adopting 2 children...  If you want to talk more I would be glad to email you direct..  Email me if you want to..  [email protected]..   I have been dealing with this for 10 years...  Would be glad to help if I can...

Unfortunately, I dealt with the same issues until I had a complete hysterectomy at 33.  It is very painful, and the depression comes with the endometriosis.  It is a vile condition and attacks anything it can latch on to.  I had it on my back, liver, bladder and colon by the time we removed everything.  Are you married and trying to have children?

Hi,

I'm 25 and was just diagnosed with endo via laprascopic surgery. I had adhesions on my abdominal wall, in the CDS, on my uterus, and on my uretrosacral ligaments. The lap did NOT help my overall pain, although it seems have eased some symptoms and made others way worse. My diarrhea has lessened considerably, but my cramping and nausea have gotten much worse. I am having pain that feels like something in my lower right half is tearing, or ripping, which my gyn. says is just adhesions froming in places where the endo was cauterized. Is this normal? The pain is quite bad when it happens (abou 7 out of the 1-10 pain scale), but my doctor seems to think it isn't a big deal.
