Very confused about IBS

Ive been doing a lot of research about IBS as the jackasses of doctors and GI specialists told me ill find more information on the internet about IBS because they had none to give me.

I read that some say IBS is caused by intestinal bacteria in the bowl and i read that it is a brain to gut connection. Now if both of this is true is there a test and by test i mean an acurate test that detects bacteria in the intestins. I read that it is hard to detect and this is probably true.

But my IBS symptoms started after i threw up 8 times. And honestly i thank you guys for all the information on these boards because it has helped me so much as everytime i went to a different ER or clinic they would just run blood tests and say im fine and then tell me change ur diet. Its like ok ill do that but what can i eat and not eat and they just shrug. Im also from the province of quebec so its hard to find a family doctor because they are all booked up so im basically left hanging since i cant find a family doctor. And the specialists even tell me i need a family doctor.

Ive also been experiencing nausea and my throat is all dry which makes me wanna puke but i dont thank god. And even after eating a banana i urinate.... is this normal??

I still say vomiting is not a side effect of IBS (although some IBSers hurt so bad they throw up, but I don't think I've heard anyone complain of doing it that frequently). Has anyone done a stool sample on you? That's how they can check for parasites. You aren't constipated, are you? Vomiting with constipation can be a sign of an intestinal blockage. With diarrhea, though, you're more likely to have something bad living in there (if it's not the gall bladder).

Yes, there is a test that can check for bad bacteria. It's a breathalyzer test--like they use for DUI. You breathe into it, but instead of detecting alcohol fumes, it detects certain kinds of gases. If you are expelling more than you should of these certain kinds of gases, then they know you have something in your guts that you shouldn't have and it's producing those gases. However, it's a relatively new test, so I don't know if it's available in Canada yet or not; there are a lot of American doctors that don't know about it. But a few people on here have had it and got good results (i.e. it found their bacteria problem). And it's one of the few tests we can take that's short, painless, and not humiliating!
