sorry if this sounds gross, but I am sure no one will be offended.  I have been doing pretty good with my IBS.  I had the loose stools for awhile, then I was normal and the past couple months I have been experiencing constipation (AGAIN) and normal.  It is so frustrating....ugh!!  I will have ball like stools (pellets) then it will come out normal.....ugh.....don't get it....and not a lot is on the toilet paper!

Hey how are you JHP?? I have been experiencing the same but over the past 9 months. It always changes but i have not been diagnosed with anything as this all started after i threw up 8 times in a row. Sometimes when i pushed i use up so much energy that i feel so tired after and then small like thin curvy stools come out. After anything i eat i feel the urge to go and then nothing would come out. After it changed and i had huge stools which i took pictures of to show my GI i know sounds retarded but he just doesnt believe me. I still have to show him. Then other times i would have wut seems like a perfectly normal looking stool and then when you flush it all breaks up into dust. I had the loose stools as well. Or a big normal stool followed by lots of tiny stools. I always got a pain on the left side of my abdomen and its always in the same spot and when u touch it....there is pain as well. Sometimes when i push i would feel it getting bigger and bigger and now recently the right side of my abdomen has started hurting two and i dont know what it is. Have you been experiencing that ?? but my pain is always there.

But the pain on the left side only started once the doctor put his hands deep into the left side of my abdomen and asked me if it hurts and i told him yea i feel the pain and then he gave me nexium and said this is all you might need...then i found a new GI specialist...lol

So if you have answers or if anyone has answers let me know.

Hi Dee-I have been good, thanks! I am sorry to hear about your troubles as well. It just plain sucks:( I can relate to your descriptions. Yesterday I had so much poo come out.....I laugh because they are so LONG! I think my system got cleaned out! I have not had D or loose stools in some time, but yesterday I felt a bit of cramping. I do not throw up, but have felt like that in the past never did though. I never had a stomache, just nasuea and then I would have to run to the pot to try, and pass gas........BAM, watery stools followed by regular....it is just crazy! I am now at the point where I have pellets usually first followed by BIG poo and I also get the skinny twirlies as well. I don't have abdomen pain, but last week I had a ache on my left side under my rib-which I related it to my intestines. The only medication I take is Nexium. I am no longer taking Zelnorm, but at times I think about taking it due to being constipated. I also drink lots of water, but that still doesn't help....I wonder if I have a malabsorption issue? I just bought a book at Barnes & Noble last Sunday which I can't remember the full name, but it is a IBS book and has wonderful information! I am at the Fiber Chapter which I neglect myself with, but if I take a fiber supplement then I am gassy, bloated and feel like crap. I did find Benefiber does not do this too me, but I was only taking a minimal dose. I am not good about remembering to add it to my cereal or drinks. I know Fiber is very important for everyone and more so with us IBS'ers.

If you are interested, I will post you the name of the book?

I hope you get some answers! I am sick of going to my GI doc and him telling me it is IBS! I will not let him do a Colonoscopy due to it being an invasive test (for me) with having a bleeding disorder. It is just crazy how this disorder is one day you are going normal, the next day D or Constipation then for months you are ok, then bam...on to several months of Constipation or D..........

Hey JHP

Thanks for replying. Sorry to hear that your going through this. I feel you on the different bowl changes. How did your start?? Me it started after throwing up 8 times one day and then nothing went back to normal. When you say water stool are you referring to diarrea ?? Because i have not experienced diarrea only once when i drank a huge bottle of prune juice and 3 hours later bam i was faced with everything coming out.

I have experienced the stools coming out and not much being on the toilette paper as well. Also i have noticed that when i whipe it is all watery on the toilette paper. I have noticed also bubbles coming out of the stools and then poping. Also when i flush it turns into dust as well. I have been on Nexium for a month but i dont know why i was given that. I was also given pantaloc for 2 months and dicetel which i stopped after taking 2 tablets. This was all given by my old Gi specialist. THe only test he ran was a stool test and blood test and he said i have no blood in stool and no parasites.

Have you done any blood work ?? Mine came out good also my CT scan came out good as well. My endoscopy came back good as well.

What symptoms do you need to have to have mal absorbtion ?? Are there any specific tests ??
