Pain!!!! Help

Hi NH66,
What type of pain are you having? If I remember correctly I had a little bit of cramping. What happens also is that they pump you with a bunch of air to expand the intestines for better viewing... You may just have some trapped air that hasn't made its way out yet. Have you been flatulent? A heating pad and light exercise might help relieve some of the pain.
Has a nurse called you today? I remember the day after my scope a nurse called to check up on me. You might want to mention this when they call you. If you forgot, or they haven't called, I would call them and ask what they think.

Does your pain feel like gas pains? When they do a colonoscopy, the doctor uses air to "inflate" the colon to get better visualization and aid navigation. Then after the scope, the nurse should have told you to try to pass gas and continue doing so there in recovery. It is possible that you still have gas trapped causing your discomfort.

What have you eaten since the scope? Did the doctor advise you regarding diet and give you any limitations? I was advised to eat a bland diet for the remainder of the day and did not follow the recommendation and luckily never had any trouble.

They should have given you a discharge instruction sheet. Did you get one? Does it say what symptoms to look for that need to be brought to the doctor's attention? When in doubt, call them up!
