Tam,
Not sure if it counts, but I was hospitalized twice for intestinal issues - both times with diarrhea, fever, and severe dehydration. I went to the ER a few times for pain but was never admitted.

I'm sorry I actually included the two times I was hospitalized for diverticulosis which I'm sure you didn't want that in the stats. I need to change mine to one time then for when I had D and vomitting so bad that I got dehydrated, I got fluids too but they did infact admit me for observation because I could barely stand. I thought I had the stomach flu at the time but they confirmed it was from IBS.

When I was nursing, I saw many patients admitted with such severe abdominal pain, it was mistaken for appendicitis. A number of times the outcome was IBS. IBS can cause such severe pain sometimes that it isn't uncommon for a patient to be admitted. I once had a rectal ulcer and was admitted. I have IBS and sometimes get rectal ulcers but I dont have an Inflammatory disease. Im one of thoise wierd cases!!!!

I am grateful not to have been hospitalized. My scope looked but there was a very small polyp which was too small to do surgery on. They want to just check it and I am not looking forward to the whole procedure. My IBS is under good control with zelnorm (script) and Konstyle fiver each day...both expensive products but worth it. I was having fecal incontinence which was gross. Very rarely have that problem now with my new regime.

I was hospitalized once . I had diarrah and many trips to the bathroon and passed out on the floor, seconds later the ambulance was taking me to the hospital. Dozens and dozens of trips to the bathroom there ( I refused to go in a bed pan) Spent 6 days in the hospital with IBD, diviticulosis, colitis. I was a mess.
