Blood in the toilet and getting worried!

Hello,

For the passed couple of weeks, there has been a bit of blood on the toiler paper when I wiped my rear, but as of last night I have been officially scared. Last night I took a "#2" and when I stood up to wipe I looked in the toilet and noticed that the water was discoloured with the colour of blood. I then wiped my rear and the toilet paper had a LOT of dark red blood on it. This has me EXTREMELY worried... I also had to go "#2" about 2-3 times today, and each time the same thing as last night has happened...

Also, recently, for the passed few days I have been feeling a bit naseous (that how you spell that? sick is what I'm going for) in my stomach. I would sometimes wake up in the morning feeling like I'm ready to throw up... to be honest I feel a bit naseous right now.

One more thing, starting today I have been having alot more gas than usual, out of the rear that is. And unfortunate as it is to say, they have been very pungent and quite frankly disgusting when it comes to smell... Sorry for the details, I'm just hoping all this can get pieced together to something.

What should I do? Please, help me out! Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I haven't really had any pain, and that I remember no diarrhea either. One thing I do have though, and I feel it right now, is a bit of nausea (especially when I just wake up in the morning).

So it's best that I go to an urgent care or ER? I wasn't sure if I was to do that or just call my regular doctor, as this has never really happened before.

Well I just went to the washroom today and it's still bloody. :( So I guess it's best to go to the hospital. I'll probably go first thing tomorrow, and I will let you know how it goes. Wish me luck! I'm kinda worried...

That you aren't having pain is a good sign--probably what Canyon mentioned with you just having reputured a hemmie. But doctors always stress getting looked at when you have recatl bleeding, just in case it is something more serious. Even if it's not, you will at least know you have hemmies and can treat them accordingly so you don't have to be worried later.

You should still get yourself to the doc!  But that's good it's decreasing. 

Lots of blood in the toilet can also be caused by diverticulosis when one of the pockets hemorrhages so I definitely agree its best to get it checked out. It could be anything so you need to rule out anything serious.

Any blood in the stool needs to be checked out. It can be indicative of serious things, usually not but not something to take a chance with. If it totally goes away after a couple days I wouldn't make a special trip but if you are not planning on seeing your Doctor in the next couple months I would go in. I was not aware that I had hemmies or I would probably have waited a couple days since it got less everyday. I don't think one needs to go to ER with the situation we have discussed but I have had friends that had a LOT of blood that did not let up and they went fortunately.

Katelynn, you need to determine where the blood is coming from. You should be able to wipe just the front half of you and see if your blood is coming from the vagina, although the easiest way to tell is: are you bleeding when you're not on the toilet? If you are having random bleeding because you're coming off the Depo Provera, then you will bleed all the time, not just when you have a bowel movement. If you have blood only when you have a bowel movement, then it's coming from your intestines and you need to see a doctor as quickly as possible. This is not a side effect of birth control. If the blood just seems to be period-related, then it's nothing to worry about unless it's so heavy that it's causing you problems or you're hurting a lot from it; you may need to take some other sort of BC and then ease down off of it.

Although I haven't gone to the doctor yet, I just wanted you all to know that I have an appointment with my family doctor for tomorrow (Thursday, May 24) at 12:45pm. It was the soonest available opening that he had.

Alright, went to my doctor and I got it checked out. Turns out I have a tear (cut) right at the end of the rectum. He even proved it to me by first touching the tear (which I felt pain) and then touching the other side of the rectum (which I felt no pain). He told me to get some Anusol to help it heal, and to eat alot of bran to soften my stool so as not to reopen the tear. He also asked me to come back in 3 weeks (which I will of course) so he can check deeper in the anus to make sure that it was only a tear that caused the bleeding. The reason he didn't do it now was because it would be too painful for me as it would open the tear and possibly even make it bigger. He also said to go see him if it got worse.

Thank you everyone so much for all your help and support. It is so greatly appreciated! I'm glad it wasn't serious. I will definitely keep all of you posted on how it is going though, and in 3 weeks time I will let you know if I am healed and what the doctor says when I see him again.

PS - Oh yea! To fill you in on how it's going with the bleeding part, I went to the washroom today and there was no blood! Not even on the paper! Ahh, I feel so relieved! Hehe.

Great news, Abramo!!! Anal fissures aren't anything to worry about, hopefully that is the root cause of the blood. Eat lots of fiber, drink lots of water, and go for the stool softner... You'll be healed in no time. Please keep us posted.
