ok am on here lots but i have got worse from what i dont no am gaining weight all time belly pains bloated and i cant cope gp say ibs

ok so am leanding money for tests

food stool bactria what else is there

and were shall i go to for the best no rip of tests i have to get well

Jaimie lee, it is very hard for us in the US to tell you where to go for testing because of the differences in our medical system. Our tests would be order by are gastro Doctor but they would probably do an endoscopy and colonscopy to make sure everything is OK. I personally have not had any stool tests done for stomach problems so I can't advise. I am not sure that is the first place to start. You really need to get advice from a qualified Doctor. If it is IBS then there really isn't a lot you can do except try the different things you read about on here. It is almost a trial and error type of thing as to what foods bother you. Many of us take Probiotics and they help many of us.

Jamie, I am also from the UK and would strongly advise you request your GP to refer you for a colonoscopy. In my health authority this took about 3 months and that is plenty of time to wait if you are anxious and in pain. It can, however, eliminate quite a few possibilities and, whilst the preparation is not pleasant (I hear a lot of "hear hear"! from others on the list!!) it does give a large measure of peace of mind if things are found to be normal.

You could try a sigmoidoscopy too but this is far less diagnostic as it only looks at the lower end of the tract and is chiefly used to find a cause of bleeding which I don't think you have?
