Good luck. I didn't have to spend hours in the bathroom. It took a long time for it to work on me but when it did I cleaned out pretty fast the night before and very little after the second. Fleets isn't great but it sure beats drinking those gallons of stuff they used to do. Kaiser still uses that here as well as no solid food for 2 days before. I'll take the Fleets anytime.

We leave for my appt. in 20 minutes. I cannot wait. I instantly feel better when they start my IV. Sometimes if I'm nauseous they've given me Phenerghan too! Which makes you sleepy, before the Versid is administered. Anyway, I'm feeling as you'd guess - completely dehydrated and headachy. That's to be expected they tell me. I have my towels for the car, that tattered throw up bowl if I need it, Club Crackers and a small cooler for a chilled water bottle. I find that if I sip water and nibble on crackers on the ride home, I also feel much better, instead of drinking an entire glass of water or eating large amounts of food. You learn these things after have a few of these procedures done (and getting sick once too!)
The hard part is over now. I just am looking forward to waking up in recovery!
And oh, there is just no way I could have taken my second Fleet's dose at 7 this morning! The first one I took at 1 p.m. yesterday was still working at 6. The second dose worked until at least 10 pm! I think they are just crazy to instruct patients to take the second dose 4 hours before their procedure time. They don't even allow for travel time! That could have been a disaster in the car!

Great news! Post-op dx was: no polyps were noted. no recurrent ca.
That last sentence I'm concerned about
because now our insurance company will likely not pay for the procedure. They said it's paid in full if a routine screening. If the doctor finds anything, then it changes to out-pt surgery and the amount would go towards my ind. $2500 deductible. Not much I can until the bill comes but I'm expecting the ins. company to say this wasn't a routine screening. But cross your fingers it will be considered as such. All I know is we have two daughters in college this coming school calendar year and it would be so NICE if they paid for this!
But at least now I can relax for 3 more years.
My prep nurse was really gentle and kind. She asked if I did the Fleet's. I said yes but not the schedule they suggested. I was braced for a big lecture but as soon as I said any laxative works 2 and 3 times longer with me, she said - oh say no more.......I did glance at people in the waiting room, expecting to see a few squirming in their seats - LOL. But I think most were there for ednoscopy (sp?)
Anywho, it's over and I don't even have to think about
Fleet's for 3 full years. Yay! And hey maybe by then the FDA will have approved of the tang flavored prep Canada uses? One can only hope!
Thanks for all your help everyone.

Woo hoo!!!!!! Congrats!!! Thanks for the great news.
Good luck with the insurance. Fight with them if you have to. I've heard horror stories about
insurances denying payment just because most people won't fight them.

It wouldn't hurt to fight them if they deny this claim. When we switched to this plan, we were truthful. My cancer hadn't occurred in the past 5 years. I just didn't volunteer the info I was a cancer survivor - our agent said to just answer the questions truthfully but not to add more info than was necessary.
Anyway, meant to add that I've only had 3 colon polyps:
1997 - two benign polyps.
1999 - one malignant polyp/tumor.
Since 1999 - nothing! Sometimes I can't believe it but my intuition tells me my cancer was a fluke. What all the docs and nurses said.....they were shocked someone my age had a malignant tumor back then (I was 43). My brothers who are 9 and 10 years older than I am have had nothing but benign polyps - our dad died from colon cancer. Guess I got the cancer gene?
But now I can relax for 3 years......my GI tract still feel shakey to me this morning. I am back on my low residue diet. And being a good IBS'er....LOL!
