hi I have no knowledge of the medication but colonic irragation i do. I have had it many times, it is slightly uncomfortable but you do feel good afterwards. I would go once every three weeks, but docs said to me it was only a temp fix, sometimes that would only last a day. They dont realy recomend them anymore. I had suffered severe constipation from birth and they removed my large colon last year, i now have a bm at least once a day, but it has been a long and slow recovery. I wouls suggest you speak to your doc, to see wether they think it would be a good idea for you to have a colonic, i do believe as well that constant colonics can damage the intestine so if you do go for it make sure the person performing it has the adequate qualifications, but please speak to the doc first and foremost.

I used colonics, or colon hydrotherapy as it is called, for quite some time. I would highly recommend it as a VERY TEMPORARY remedy for chronic C. I don't think I've ever felt as good as I did when I was having these treatments. Like the other poster stated, the "relief" does not last very long, but for me, even a day or two of respite from the constant pain and bloating was worth it. Make sure you find a licensed facility with highly trained colon hydrotherapists. It helps if the clinic is full service, offering nutrition advice and belly massage as well as the treatments.

If you have insurance, and can get a GI referral (mine sent me to the clinic) you may be able to get the treatments covered by insurance.
