Just got back from my endoscopy

I had my endoscopy today. I of course cried my eyes out as they gave me the anesthesia (I don't know why, but I always do!!) But of course I woke up and don't remember a thing. The doctor came in and told me they did find damage caused by GERD and that I have a hiatal hernia. He also did a biopsy he said of my intestine to test for why I constantly have diarrhea. So I'm home now with some Nexium and a script. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy on the 29th so I won't be meeting with my doc until after that test is complete. So I'll be researching my butt off now on hiatal hernia's. Anyone have any advice or reccomendations for me? Thanks

Hiatal Hernia's are very common. Seems like everyone I know has one. It is an outpouching of the esophagous. Not much to do about them unless they are really bad and then they do surgery but it is rare. You are not unique in having one. I would not be concerned about it. Why do you cry with anesthesia? Is it anxiety or does it remind you of something. I am always curious why some things come out of the blue like that on people. I don't do that but I have my own weird things that are unexplanable.

I love that paragraph by Eileen Caddy. If only we would remember that daily. I need it tatooed on my forehead.

Yea, it's anxiety. I started to have anxiety attacks when I was a teenager; my biggest fear was going to sleep and not waking up. I can't explain it and every now and again I have a hard time getting to sleep because of it. So thats why anesthesia makes me so scared. Which is kind of weird because you are monitored the whole time... I dunno.

The day I found that quote I was like, wow, thats perfect. And I try to go by it, but man is it hard.

I have anxiety with anesthesia because of my breathing difficulties but I just get really talkative so they tell me to be quiet and then put me out quickly. When I was very young, 4 or 5, I would get terrified if we ever came to a dead end and start crying. I had never known anyone that died and probably never heard the word. I also had a English accent till I started school and that was a puzzle also as people always thought I was adopted from England. Makes one wonder where we have been before.
