Hi all,
I have had IBS for the past 2 years but recently have been getting other symptoms....I had a colonoscopy done 2 years ago as I was having blood on the stool...also I sometimes bleed after having sex with my husband from the anus. (sorry a bit embarrasing) I was told I had a tear (Fissure??) i was put on a stool softener and it seemed to be fine until the past four weeks I've had some constipation and its really painful when I pass a stool. Yesterday I went to the toilet and saw the blood again on the stool and a bit when I wiped which got me worried....My anus has been really itchy this past three weeks also....Do fissures or hemmies make your anus itch? Also when i'm in the shower and I wash the anal area it sometimes stings....
Could this be a fissure or hemmie? Can they reappear after a year and a half?
Thanks
Ems

I'm no doctor, but it does sound like your fissures could be reappearing. It's not that uncommon for a relapse if you're having constipation issues and aren't getting enough fiber. It especially makes sense if the area stings when being washed or wiped.
Most times fissures will end up healing on their own over time. In the meantime, it helps to take stool softneners and sit in warm baths - sitz salt baths are proven to help.
Again, I am not a doctor, but given that fissures are tears in the anus, I wonder if Neosporin would be safe to use to help speed along the process. Anyone know?

With having issues regarding anal fissures or hemmies (possibly it's what you have if you're constipated) and even having constipation issues I'd be avoiding anal sex because that will just irritate the area and gives you a higher chance of developing anal issues...just my opinion of course but definitely ask your doc about
the safety of anal sex with having anal issues (fissures/hemmies, IBS in general).

hi just a note to those with fissures, night shade sensitivity can cause anal swelling, pain, burning, fissures, bleeding. simply getting them out of the diet for a few days like 3 or four can help figure it out. Adding them back in can also help to figure out if you are reacting to night shades ( things that grow at night and are poisonous: potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, egg plants, some melon, Oh and corn is a partial night shade. Corn is in a lot these days as: corn syrup, oil, citric acid ( made from corn) use profusely these days. Gift from China. seriously you may want to look into this subject if you have fissures, anal problems. ect.

You definetly need to talk to your doctor about
your anal sex. You are very subject to severe and possibly life threatening infections if you halready have fissures and continue with anal sex.
