cry  Can anyone advise me. I have severe constipation some blood mixed in with mucus. colicky pain in abdomen and a dull ache near my tailbone inside its like a brick pressing down. Passing pebble like stools very hard awaiting appointment for a camera ...assume its a colonoscopy???

There are a few reasons that this could be happening. Sometimes this can happen when you are very constipated. I have passed mucus before when I have been extremely constipated and it does give you a dull pain in your rectum. If you have been straining, you could have an anal fissure or haemorroid which is causing the bleeding. Is the blood bright red? Pebble stools definatley suggest constipation. The colonoscopy will be able to see if you have any inflammation in your bowel and can rule out conditions such as UC or Crohns. Let us know how you get on.

Hi Victoria

Thanks for answering I had my colonoscopy yesterday and all is well with the large bowel but I have some areas of inflamation in the rectum tissue samples taken doctor says possible proctitis not ulcerated as yet. Results in 10 to 14 days. Hopefully some treatment after that as the pain is getting me down. I have been researching the condition online and what keeps coming up is gluten intolerence, which is funny as I have noticed recently that I bloat quite badly after certain cereals and white bread. I'll keep you posted.

Hi Jeannette, I have mild proctitis but have never found any links with food. I eat the same as I did before. Fingers crossed, the results will answer everything for you. Keep us posted.

Sorry for delay in answering. Do you get diarrhoea at all with your proctitis, new symptom!! have to phone doc monday or tuesday next week for the results. Its been a long week! should have more info end of next week.

I sometimes do but I don't think it's related directly to the Proctitis. I have IBS aswell as Proctitis so I think it's possibly IBS related with me. It doesn't happen very often.
