My husband was thought to have crohn's disease, now the doctor is not so sure.
He did say he has ibs-d and c- he is constipated, and also has diarrheah flare ups about
6 times a year, he does have much diverticulosis- he also has depression- and now the doctor said he has too much fat in his stool and they are putting him on creon 10- 2x per meal 1x per snack... he also is to eat 30g of fiber per day.
Thing is, he has been losing weight, is this because his body has not been making enzymes?
This is scaring me. He has never been so thin, he is fatigued much.. although he is just starting to get his appetitie back since he started the enzymes- which was yesterday night.
The doctor doesn't know if he has crohn's.. the pathology report says possible... but it does indicate long standing, chronic colitis-
will the creon 10 help him to gain his weight back?
What is strange, is that though he has lost weight- lots of it, and is now 160 pounds- his cholesterol was elevated- and his a1c was up from last time (he is not a diabetic- though at one point his numbers were much elevated- due to some virus and he also weighed 200 pounds at the time- so there is a tendency to type 2).
I am wondering if this is something other then just ibs- or inflammatory bowel disease.
He also has gerd- and is on omeprazole- the gi ruled out celiac-
I just don't know how much of this is normal....
