is it possible to have ibs without lower abdominal pain.

all signs point to my gallbladder but I want to run  it by you guys. I had ibs many years ago  because I was under alot of stress and all of the sudden it just disappeared as mysteriously as  it came. I had lower stomach pains  with diahrea years ago. But my symptoms  are different from ibs symptoms now. I have severe abdominal pain in my right upper abdomen near my ribs and vomiting also yellow diahrea but no lower abdominal cramps. My gp is suspicous of gallbladder disease . I get the symptoms i have now  if i eat fatty,fried and spicy foods. Right now  I am using bentyl and zofran when i have attacks. The dr dxed me with biliary colic. I am just wondering can gallbladder problems be dxed  as ibs?. I go for a hida scan in 2 weeks  and see a surgeon on feb 16th. I would appreciate any insight. Thank you.
