Well, I had my procedures done today. I was prescribed the golytely and after two hours on the stuff, it all came back up. I went to the ER and they gave me some pills that would keep me from vomiting. The pill dissolved on my tongue and was kind of bitter after it was gone. I tried my best to drink as much golytely as they wanted me to, but once I started having the clear diarrhea, I stopped drinking it. I just couldn't muster another swallow! I got to the GI clinic at 7:05am and was brought back to the exam room around 7:30am. They gave me the sedative and I immediately started to feel dizzy...that's all I remember. After that, I woke up in recovery. These are the impressions from my upper endoscopy: LA Grade A reflux esophagitis, granular gastric mucosa, erosive gastropathy, gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythma (that was biopsied), and erythematous duodenopathy. These are the impressions from the colonoscopy: One 5 mm polyp in the rectum (benign appearing)...resected and retrieved. The exam was otherwise normal.
What I get from all that is that I have some reflux going on and I also believe my previous diagnosis of IBS is correct. I have to make a follow-up with my regular GI doc tomorrow and when the appointment gets here, I'll let you know what she tells me. That's what I get from it though.
