Is this pain IBS???

I was diagnosed with IBS this morning after having weeks of pain in my tummy and going to hospital last Friday when my belly swelled up. I have done a lot of reading on IBS but can't find confirmation or reassurance anywhere of the pains I'm experiencing. Does anyone else suffer with a burning and stinging sensation in their abdomen? It goes right from under my bra right down to my pelvis and my body feels so very hot. On all the websites and books I've read, they all mention "pain" but none of them are specific. Can anyone help me?

You might want to read the IBS 101 thread. There are a cluster of symptoms for an IBS diagnoses.

We can't tell you here.

What kind of doctor diagnosed you.

Have you had any tests?

I've had chronic stomach pain for the past four years exactly as you describe. My GI has not been able to figure it out, no tests have showed a reason--I now just take pain meds for relief. See my post "frustrated-help" for further details. I'm sorry to see your in the same situation it's a tough life, the only thing that helps me right now is pain relief.

there is no test for IBS, its diagnosed based on symptoms, but if IBS is what you have you don't want to take pain meds long term it will make it worse.

what tests have they done on you?

There is also another condition called chronic functional pain syndrome.

There really is no condition called "leaky gut syndrome." Regarless of what that website says.

There is something called intestinal permeablity.

This is how food is digested to begin with.
