So I haven't even looked at these forums in years.
I was diagnosed with IBS-C maybe 5 years ago, was on meds in the beginning, learned to control it with diet. My symptoms at the time would be random cramping pain anywhere along my intestinal tract (mobile pain, not in one spot) and I would only have a BM every 3 days or so. Sometimes the cramping was so severe it would double me over. I found that my triggers were coffee, tomatoes, really acidic things...
Anyways about two months ago, I had this weird pinching sensation in my lower right quadrant, so I go to my internist who thought it might be appendicitis so they run a CT scan (blood work didn't show infection, but they had to be sure). CT shows possible trace fluid in my pelvis so they conclude that it must have been a small ovarian cyst.
The pain wasn't getting better so a week later I go in for a follow up, and they do the abdominal exam (pokey exam, I call it), and my whole right side is now tender, enough to cause me to kick my leg up. So the internist suggests I go to a GI doc.
I get the GI doc visit scheduled a week and a half later and that's when my symptoms go crazy. I start going to the bathroom every day (which is highly unusual for me), loose stools usually with undigested food in them. GI says he thought it was Crohn's because of the right side pain (the whole length of my ascending colon) which is not mobile and not crampy (more stabbing type pain). None of these symptoms are the same as my IBS-C. So we do a colonoscopy (Dec 10th). They see nothing, they take "many" biopsies. I just found out today the biopsies are clean (which is good, I suppose). So he mentions that they are going to run a small bowel follow through but "it might just be IBS, just different now".
I suppose I just want to throw something out there and hope someone reads it because I'm becoming depressed again. I managed to get used to my "normal" symptoms of IBS-C just to have this thrown at me. Plus it is hard to deal with constant pain (it doesn't waver, at most it gets incrementally worse as time goes by) for two months now. I have had several throat infections this year where I was on antibiotics a lot, but the last treatment was late August/early Sept. and the pain didn't start until late October.
Has anyone ever had a complete and drastic change to their entire list of symptoms out of nowhere?
