Hi I posted yesterday and I am wondering if anyone with IBS on this site could tell me if they get upper right quadrant pain under the ribs and directly in the back and is this a sympton of IBS - gall stones have been ruled out.
Thankyou

I've had URQ pain for a long time now, and abdominal u/s showed no stones. Abdominal u/s is only able to see stones that are 4mm and larger - smaller than that you need to have an endoscopic u/s. My pain is not spasmodic, nor was it connected to a meal, which I think is more typical of gallstones or gallbladder spasms.
I had been taking ppis for many years and decided to stop. The URQ pain has essentially gone away. although I have inflammatory bowel disease and this week I've had more problems than usual, including a bit of pain under my ribs. I don't know if the reduction in my URQ pain can be attributed to stopping ppis, or to just getting my IBD under better control.
