about 2 weeks ago my daughter was diagnosed with C.Diff. For a couple of weeks before this she was experiencing bouts of diarrhea, but felt fine otherwise after a couple of doses of Pepto Bismol. Soon after she was getting a low grade fever and was having blood in her stool. She was put on Alinia first (last year she contacted giardia and could only stomach this med). Well, this time it didn't work so our Pediatrician suggested we see a GI Specialist. He prescribed Vancom tablets. Well, long story short she was tried swallowing pills and usually cannot. So we ended up crushing them and putting them in applesause 3 time a day. Still no improvement, so Dr. prescribed Alinia (pill form) to piggy-back the Vancom. Whether it was her phobia of taking the meds. or just not being able to keep all the antibiotics down, she sometimes would vomit them out. So here we are week 3 and she is still the same. The blood was starting to scare my husband and I, so we contacted the GI doctor again today. He wants to get to the bottom of this, so she is now scheduled for a "scope"? tomorrow at the Hospital. We have to give her enemas tonight and in the morning. I am really getting scared as she has lost so much weight (she is lean to begin with). I am hoping that they can hydrate her while we're there though. Just wondered if anyone has experienced this? My mind always goes to the worst...
