Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section to post in, although I have a feeling that IBS might be a factor in this case.
I'm a 19 year old male, and about
three months ago I developed a very bad flu of some sort, I was sick for a week, with the first few days consisting of shivering, nausea and pain all over my body. I visited my GP and she said it was a flu and that it would manifest itself in some form in a few days, that form ended up being a severe need to defecate after the smallest of food portions.
From what I can remember I felt an unbelievably strong urge to defecate, but I was unable to, it got so bad that I took two laxative pills, and the next morning I woke up and was unable to stop defecating, to the point where you could almost describe it as 'violent'.
The other symptoms of this flu went away after about
a week and a half, but the big problem is that for the past few months it's as if the laxatives never stopped working! I feel a constant slight irritating weight in my lower back, near my tail bone I think, and the constant feeling of carrying a lot of excrement and needing to defecate, this happens whenever I don't need to defecate, which makes the whole thing worse because I feel a strong urge to go but I know nothing will happen if I do.
Other than this, my whole 'defecating pattern' has changed. All my life I've just simply eaten, then every 1-2 days I've used the toiler to defecate, quickly and easily, then carried on like normal without any feeling of needing to go again. Now I eat, don't go for a day or two, and then when I do go I'm left defecating for about
20 minutes on average. It's not constipation, it's as if everything I've been eating has just developed into a massive build-up, there also seems to be substantial traces of what I'm guessing is 'bile'.
Like I said before, it's as if the two laxatives I took haven't stopped working over these months and have completely changed my bowel movement patterns forever. I suppose I should add that my anus is extremely sore after I've been, perhaps that will help narrow it down, perhaps not.
I feel like this is ruining my life, I'm 19 not 91, and I can't stand feeling like I need to plan ahead whenever I visit someone's house because at any moment I might need to spend 20-30 minutes on their toilet.
I think I'm going to visit my GP tomorrow, but can anyone give any insight into what the problem might be?
EDIT:
After I finished writing the above I had had enough with the constant urge to go, went, and apart from some bile nothing happened, as usual, and here I am sitting at the computer with the same weight in my lower back and urge to defecate again. I really hope I can get this fixed, I do not want to spend the rest of my life like this.
