My problem started a year and a half ago, this was when I was consuming a hell of alot of cheesecake. I was eating around 3kg of cheesecake a week. After doing this for 4-5 months I suddenly found myself extremely distented around my waist. From passing stools on a daily basis it went to once a week motion, which was killing me as everyday I felt like a time bomb. Although my stools were still normal. Even before I started my cheesecake habits I was jogging everyday and I still do to this date. I see alot of you complain about stabbing pain etc, I don't get any pain, I can comfortably eat anything I want, I have tried a food diary but it makes no difference, my symptoms are not based on what I eat. If I want a pizza I can, If I want a fizzy drink I can and so on. My waist has literally increased in size I have this flabby, stretchy skin all the time. Does not matter what I do, jog, stretch, walk or sleep nothing makes a difference. I have not had a toned/firm waist since this problem began. I have one other symptom which started a few months back and that is really bad lower back pain, around the tip of the spine where the tailbone would be. The pain becomes so immense when walking that I have to sit down for it to ease which I believe is caused by the massive amount of gas I have around my waist.
My gas issue is a real pain in the butt. Everynight when I go to sleep and then wake up in the morning my waist is so distended, which makes me feel really uncomfortable. The funny thing is I can't pass any of this gas out it just swims around my waste annyoing me as much as it can. Whenever I move, I can hear it but if I try to squeeze, I get nothing. Sometimes it comes so close to coming out that I exert pressure but then it just goes back in. Infact these days I don't really feel the need to pass stools. I just try and if lucky that's it. My stool motion has gotten better I do go about once at least every 1-2 days but never feel like I have evacuated my bowels, always have this feeling like more could come out. Also sometimes when I've been out and about for a long day around 6-9 hours and when I get back home, I'm starving so I have something to eat and I find myself full in an instant but after a few minutes if I try and pass stools and if I end up successful I'm starving again, this happens on a daily basis.
Doctors have diagnosed me with IBS based on a blood test. Yep that is pretty much it. When asked for colonscopy, CT, HBT (hydrogen and methane one), all I get is "it won't help". I've been to the doctors so many times but all they ever do is just tell me to go home and learn to live with it. Honestly it is not easy, I know alot of you have really bad pain and a bunch of other stuff and I sure do feel for you, but I feel like I'm being treated unfairly just because I don't complain about pain. Why is it so difficult for them to give me a endo/colonscopy? All they have done is a bloody blood test. Gp's in Britain haven't even heard of SIBO or HBT, they won't even consider to look into it as it is just a 'theory'. I find them so unwilling to help, what do I have to do? Should I go for a visit and start crying on the floor or shouting 'I'm gonna kill myself' to be heard? I've tried laxatives, mebeverine and omeprazole which none have worked. They did a gluten/wheat test on me that came negative. There was a time when I had B12 deficiency but that went away after a few weeks and has not returned.
