The bright red blood that you are seeing could be from hemmorhoids or an anal fissure, but you need to see a doctor to get a diagnosis and to rule out something more serious. Hemmorhoids and anal fissure would never cause cramping and so I would highly recommend seeing your doctor to get this checked out.
If it should turn out to be hemmorhoids, please do not strain, this will make the situation worse! Try to make sure you are drinking enough water(64oz) and getting enough fiber, 25-30 grams from both soluable and insoluable foods. Citrucel or Metamucil might be helpful and also, try not to spend a long period of time sitting on the toilet, as this will make your hemmorhoids worse.
