new and need advice please

hello all,

i came across this website a few days ago, and now finely joined.

i really need some help, ive been suffering from chronic constipation for a number of years but have always manage to go at least once/twice a week with help from differents types of laxatives.

but three years ago i started bleeding really bad, ive had now three biopsies from back passage, the first time they told me i had bowel cancer, but then they took another one and said it was a mistake, just abnormal cells.

ive been on different laxatives/meds the lot to help but its getting worse, ive had two colonoscopy, the first they even said the fleet laxative hadnt even worked.

ive now been given prucalopride 2mg, been on these for four days now and still not gone!!! ive eaten allbran, prunes, enough water, hot tea, ect...everything and anything that may help me go, but nothing....saw my consultent four days ago and he gave me the prucalopride and said he will see me again in march to see if they have worked, but he hasnt said anything else, not even given me any hope or advice what will happen next, or if these tablets dont work.

i guess im asking for advice, in what to expect should, or will happen next.

ive just had enough of all this, im sick of thinking about if i can eat something or not, if it will help me go or not and if not then i dont tend to eat it, this is effecting my whole life and im just sick of it.

ive even been to a&e a couple of months back as i was in such pain, only for them to send me back home saying they cant help me.

can you help, or offer advice, or just let me know what happens next.

i had read that these tablets have had good effects and within a few hours people go to the toilet...but it hasnt happend.

anyway sorry to go on, just in pain and had enough

Have you read any of the posts on the UC forum?
Many of the people who contribute are very knowledgeable about many conditions and may be able to offer suggestions for your situation.
I believe you can have Irritable Bowel Disease with constipation.

I have IBD (specifically, ulcerative colitis) and have benefited greatly from things I've learned by reading entries on that site.

I don't know if this will help, but a friend of mine has had constipation like yours since her first child was born (almost 19 years). It had progressively gotten worse with each child she had (3 total). It got so bad she was only going once a month, and only during her period. She decided she needed to find the cause so she had a colonoscopy. The GI doc that did the procedure found that she had defective muscles in her colon. The muscles were damaged during the birth of her first child and worsened with each one after. Because the muscles were damaged and not used effectively, they weakened severely over the years and made the constipation worse. Sadly, the doc told her there was no surgery and no therapy that could help her. She still only goes once a month no matter what she takes or eats to promote bowel movements.

Sorry, but I don't remember the name of the condition. However, could this be something to mention to your doc?
