At the very least, I would highly recommend you take a daily or twice daily probiotic. The brand that continues to receive very high praise and positive feedback from users is the one I take - Renew Life - they offer an entire line of probiotics, etc. Google the name and you will see their website come up. Determine which strength you need (I take the aqua colored box, Critical Colon, 80 Billion Count, once daily but if my IBS is acting up, twice daily). I take my pill on a completely empty stomach (several hours after I've eaten anything solid). This probiotic seems to quiet my noisy and rumbling gut. But reviews I've read are from people in your shoes as well, something upset their GI tract and they tried to restore good flora by eating yogurt. But here's the thing, you'd have to eat a gallon of organic yogurt (which doesn't hurt by the way) to equal what Renew Life offers in their capsules. They start out at either 5 or 15 Billion Count and go up from there.
I buy mine at a local health food store, in the chilled section near yogurt.
If these do not help you, you go on a strict low residue diet for 1 to 2 weeks to quiet your gut and allow it to heal.
