I'm 16, and I've been having right (mostly lower quadrant) abdominal pain for something like 6-7 weeks now, as well as nausea, and a loss in appetite. I've lost 15 pounds since this began. I also have constipation. I haven't had consistent blood in my stool, but a few times, I have had streaks of blood on the TP, and it has been dark dark green, almost black.

The GI I went to first diagnosed me with visceral hyperalgesia, and prescribed me Bentyl and Elavil. But after two weeks, it hadn't worked.

I've had all sorts of tests. My blood tests at first showed my WBC was elevated and so was my CRP, but a couple weeks later, my WBC was lower, and my CRP was apparently going back down, but those were probably a month ago. I've had abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds, and this past Friday, I had an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. The doctor said that everything looked relatively normal, but he took biopsies and I should get the results by the end of the week. I'm slightly worried that I'll have an IBD

Anyways, I've never had to deal with this sort of thing before, but I know that an IBD is a more serious condition. I know you can't diagnose me, and I'm not asking you to, I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar symptoms or if anyone thinks I'm being paranoid about this?

It's hard not to worry when one doesn't feel well. The good news is it sounds like your doctor is taking your problem seriously and is trying to get to the root of your problem. I was told for years that I had a spastic colon or IBS [irritable bowel syndrome]. I tried my best to cope with my periodic gut issues and not complain to the doctor about it. Then my symptoms got so severe I went in demanding some tests. It turns out I had mild IBD [inflammatory bowel disease]. Crohn's is one of the IBD diseases and that's what I have.

IBD can be more serious. However, many with proper medication lead normal and active lives. My gut symptoms are in remission and have been for about 6 years. The end of the week is almost here. Hang in there and try not to worry. Stress can make the symptoms of both IBS and IBD worse. Let us know what the biopsies say! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
