had the colonoscopy today and the endoscopy. Here are the findings

For the endoscopy-----During the procedure we found the following:

Flattening and separation of circular plicae of the 2nd part of the duodenum. No scalloping seen, in the duodenum (biopsy)

Recommendations are follow-up with gastroenterologist in 1 week.

For the colonoscopy --- During the procedure we found the following:

Decrease in vascularity of the sigmoid colon and descending colon

Erythema and granularity in the sigmoid colon and descending colon compatible with indetermined colitis (biopsy)

Recommendations followup with gastroenterologist in 1 week.

 

What does all this mean?

Not a doctor, but when the word colitis came up it caught my interest. Check this out on any Gastro website. I'm glad you had the test, and that you've got future appts with your GI. Now that they know that colitis of some sort is involved they should be able to come up with a treatment plan to help.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis but at least you know.  I have colitis too and in a similar area.  There is typical protocol for treatment that you will soon be learning about from your doctor.  Your doctor may or may not also talk about diet and diet changes but these will also benefit you.

Pop on over to the ulcerative coliti board on this site and you will get a lot of support and great advice on treatment and diet etc.  It is probably the most active forum on this site and there is a LOT of great info and friendly peeps  :-)   

Good luck on your jourey of healing.  It can be a stubborn condition but it can be overcome with a treatement and a few lifetsyle and dietary changes.
