Evening everyone,
I've been on here before, but it has been awhile. I went to the doctor today, just another check on things visit. I've had IBS-C for 26 years now with many more downs than ups. My symptoms are severe cramping when an attack occurs, so bad I will have to hit the floor half the time. I have come to understand I cannot tolerate gluten, wheat or lactose, so I stray from those. I have been taking Mirilax pretty much daily for a few years and taking hydrocodone when the cramping is extreme has kept me out of the emergency room more times than I care to count.
So today during my doctor visit he tells me about this Amitiza. He gave me some trials to start on, first 8 mcg twice daily for 4 days, then move to the 24 mcg twice daily. I read dozens of reviews on this drug of which half were encouraging, the other half scared me into almost not trying it. I already have migraines and the thought of additional headaches and nausea doesn't really appeal to me, not to mention the chest pains and possible shortness of breath. Has anyone ever tried this? Pros? Cons? This is new territory for me, something I didn't think I'd encounter after all these years so I'm really curious. I really appreciate all input as I am going to hold off a few more days to make a decision. Rest well.
Thanks so much.
Lynn
