Abdominal Pain & Diarrhea 8 days now....

Last Tuesday (8 days ago) I woke up with severe abdominal pain and diarrhea. I threw up very little Bile, but the diarrhea lasted through Thursday. On Thursday I took Imodium, and the Diarrhea stopped. Friday the abdominal pain was so bad I went to the hospital. The starte and IV, checked my gallbladder, and appendix (both came back normal.) They gave me 15mg of Morphine through IV, and a prescription for Dilaudid (2mg pills) told me there was a NASTY stomach/intestinal virus going around and sent me home. I did not poop from Friday-Sunday and on Sunday when I went it was solid and over the weekend I kept going poop and the abdominal pain subsided. Well this morning I woke up again with the abdominal pain, and have been in the bathroom 6 times since 6am with loose stool/diarrhea and some abdominal pain. Im debating on going back to the hospital this weekend if it hasnt stopped by then. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

For starters, I would suggest you eliminate lactose (milk products) from your diet (if you have not already done so.)

I would stick to a low fiber soothing diet for at least a few days...maybe chicken broth, gradually adding rice and well cooked vegetables.
When I got sick in Mexico, I practically lived on it.

Taking probiotics may also be helpful in populating your digestive tract with good bacteria.
Taking Pepto Bismol may help. I don't do well on Imodium.

Be sure to stay hydrated.
