Hello everyone,
I am very much new at this, i have never posted anything on a forum before but i am trying to reach out to people that have the same symptoms as me because i just am not getting the answers i want from my doctors.
I am a 22 yr old female. I have had right flank pain since I was 16 yrs old. I was recently diagnosed with IBS but I had to go through so many tests and through so many doctors to get that diagnosis and i am still not sure if thats what is wrong with me. I will write all of the doctors I've seen and the exams and procedures I have undergone to show you guys what all they have rules out on me.
Here is a list of exams/procedures:
Scoliosis X-rays (diagnosed with mild scoliosis), 2 KUB X-rays( negative), 3 CT scans(stationary kidney stone left kidney), an MRI of my entire vertebral column(cervical bulging disk), 2 ultrasounds (negative), physical therapy for muscle spasms(didn't help the pain), endoscopy to look for ulcers (negative), HIDA scan (working 29% just had my GB removed 3 weeks ago).
A list of doctors:
I have been to 2 different family doctors ( different opinions), chiropractor( didn't help flank pain), urologist( said kidneys are fine), gynecologist, gastroenterologist
Symptoms/characteristics :
I hurt every time I am up walking around. The pain is worse in the mornings. It typically stops hurting after I eat a full meal for lunch. I have to carry an ice pack to work with me to survive. I sleep with a heating pad every night. The pain is very sharp in my right flank. The pain seems to "move around" sometimes under my ribs and sometimes right above my hip. It's very strange. The pain is so bad that it makes me light headed. Bowel movements do not seem to help me. Sometimes I believe they make the pain worse. I take spasm medication but I do not think it helps. I have gas really bad so I eat gas-x like candy. I have never thrown up from IBS, but I do get nauseous because the pain is so strong. When the pain is really bad it feels like I need to make a bowel movement but when I try i can not. I also have anxiety horribly bad but I have never Been diagnosed with it but when I am nervous, my pain will show up out of no where
Questions:
Is it possible that if the spasm medication I am taking is a stronger dose it will help the pain, does the medicine even help at all?
Is my anxiety related to this IBS?
If I had a colonoscopy done would it help determine IBS for sure?
Is it typical that IBS only causes pain in the specific Area each time?
Thank you so much for reading. Ask my anything medically I left out?
