I have been having pain in my stomach for a few days that feels like an ulcer. I've also been nauseated for over a month. I can't get an appt for a few weeks, but in the meantime my dr ordered an obstruction series. I'm wondering what this can show since I'm not having the symptoms of an obstruction which I know very well (it's happened twice requiring surgery). Can this procedure show anything else like if I have an ulcer?

I'm not sure what kind of test this is, but I know that in order to correctly determine if you have a stomach ulcer is to a scope. What sort of test is the obstruction series? CT scan with dye?

Btw, I have a stomach ulcer and I take 2 Prilosec's a day to help with it. I have pain (burning type pain), a lump like feeling in my lower esophagus, burping, bloating, and nausea. I was originally on one Prilosec a day for acid reflux but just recently developed a bleeding stomach ulcer so my GI increase my Prilosec to two a day....it's worked like a charm and I no longer have these issues.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, I've been on Prilosec 2x/day and its' not helping. From what I understand, the obstruction series is just several x-rays. I don't even think they involve any dye or drinking any solution. In the past, I've always had upper endoscopies with this problem, so that's why I was unsure of why he wanted to the xrays first.
