Medical Disability ??

Has anyone ever received a medical leave of absence for Slow Transit Constipation?
How do you request this from a doctor? I asked once and the doctor said, "I can't give you leave just because you're constipated". WOW, she REALLY didn't get it !!
My symptoms are active and debilitating about 50% of my work week and I am exhausted.
Additionally, my surgeon is recommending selective surgery to remove my colon.
I really would like to devote 100% of my attention exhausting every alternative before doing so.
Unfortunately, so far, I react pretty severely to each option I've tried.
It would be a blessing to work on this without fearing I will have to "call in sick" day after day.

Hello ! Do you have short term or long term disability through your work ? Otherwise a good resource person would be the social worker at your hospital and remember to utilize your Dr. to when you start to get the ball rolling if you qualify for disability.
