Okay- so about 2 months ago, (February 4, 2012) I was diagnosed with IBS and Barrett's Esophagus(via biopsy) The thing is, my doctor seems more into the Barrett's diagnoses than the IBS, in which case, I am starting to doubt I have either. My symptoms started on the day of December 28, 2012. I know the date because I remember the exact thing that seemed to trigger it, marijuana. I was smoking with some of my friends(just finished finals, not a heavy smoker, have only done it 10 times from age 18-20) when I swallowed two big gulps of smoke. I usually don't swallow when I do inhale, but this time I ended up doing so, resulting in immediate nausea, lump in throat sensation, constant burping, stomach gurgling, and undigested food/mucus in stools (no nausea now). I decided to wait it out for a while to see if it would go away but didn't so went to a GI. He ran some tests and did a colonoscopy and endoscopy, and after alerted me that I had Barrett's. I though this was outrageous in itself, being that I never had any acid reflux problems before, extremely fit, and just twenty years old. He gave me a speech about having Barrett's, didn't even mention IBS. When I asked about all the stomach gurgling, mucus/undigested stool, lump in throat, he said "oh, it's probably just IBS". Luckily, I don't have any sort of pain or discomfort, but I am just wondering, is it REALLY possible to have IBS with absolutely no pain at all? And also, I've never heard of anyone(Google included) developing IBS from marijuana. Oh yea, is it also common to pass bloody mucus? Sorry about the whole story, just a little confused about the diagnoses.
