I'm 18 years old and am about to be a freshman in college. 7 months ago I became ill with some kind of virus (possibly noravirus) and I never fully recovered. I was left with stomach pain and altering constipation and diarrhea. So I saw a specialist and they ran just about every test to only conclude that I have PI-IBS. And they left me at that.
Within the 7 months I have most definitely noticed an upward trend and my stomach issues are not nearly as bad as everyone else on here. I can go out to social gatherings, take long trips, eat a lot of common trigger foods; but my stomach DEFINITELY has a role in my life. I'm not really IBS-C or IBS-D. I've been taking probiotics which help tremendously so the alternating diarrhea and constipation kind of stopped. Now I'm left with a 24/7 constant feeling of having to poop and I never know if I can actually poop. Sometimes I'll sit down and can poop, most of the time I can. And my bowel movements are random and there is no schedule. Sometimes the poop comes out easy and in pebbles, sometimes it comes out with an effort and in lumps. So the need of always knowing where the bathroom is and carrying around Imodium (in case there is no bathroom) and anxiety pills so I don't further upset my stomach is present.
My case is definitely unique and the incomplete evacuations and constant feeling of having to poop is awful and has changed my life for the worst. So I was wondering, could calcium help regulate my bowel movements and/or help allievate the constant feeling of having to poop. Because that constant feeling of having to poop makes me anxious just to leave my house and I can't imagine what college is going to do to my nerves and ultimately my stomach.
