Frequent small bowel movements

Hi. Lately I'll have a somewhat"normal" bowel movement in the morning. Then I will have 3 or more small bowel movements during the day. They may be small and somewhat hard in nature. Does anyone know what's up with that? I don't drink much water during the day and I love chocolate and coffee. I'm thinking this is a new ibs symptom for me but I wanted to ask if this is common. I know I should just have a colonoscopy and get over it but the fear of bad results puts me into an anxiety attack. So since there's no blood and no pain (just a little discomfort at times) I'm chalking this up to ibs and age. Am I on the right track here? Thanks.

Caffeine - from coffee and chocolate - can stimulate the colon. Both habits might be inducing more bm's during the day.
