I concur that it is likely stomach acid.
I note you also don't consider yourself to have IBS.
I would recommend keeping a food diary for a while, at least enough to have a few bouts of the burning.
You may be able to link the burning to some food or food additive.
Once you think you know then you may want to test it and see if you can prove it.
Keep written records and when you go to the doctor give your doctor as much information as you can.
Doctors only have a short time for most people, my doctor is an exception though.
What I have learned to do over the years is to list all the issues I want to cover and this will allow the doctor to scan your list, set a priority and maybe make some conclusions based on the cluster of issues.
