Over a year ago I had my first colonoscopy, besides my bleeding hemorrhoids my colon was clear and the surgeon said see you in ten years.

Well now that my hemorrhoids pain have gotten worst and the surgeon wants to do another colonoscopy I have a few questions.

1- why didn't the surgeon remove the hemorrhoids during the colonoscopy ?

2-Why is a second colonoscopy necessary and would he be removing the hemorrhoids while he's in the "neighborhood" ?

I will be calling him later today with these questions but thought I'd ask here ion the meantime also if there are other questions I should ask.

Ay feed back would be appreciated.

I believe that your doctor wants to make sure that there are no cancerous growths around the anus. I don't know about having another Colonoscopy, but he may have his reasons. Talk to your doctor. While they are performing the procedure, they biopsy tissue, and remove polyps if there are any. Hemorrhoids are surgically repaired, but that's a different type of procedure, so that's probably why he didn't do it during your Colonoscopy.
