I know that anxiety too. For me, it's pretty much an every day thing. I have chronic severe constipation, but there are occasions when some liquid stool sneaks past all the other stuff, and, well, that always means trouble, because I also have complete bowel incontinence. Weird to have both conditions that seem so opposite each other. Generally I do not go at all unless I drink 1/2 gallon of bowel prep (really gross). But I still worry every day that today will be the day I will have an accident. When going to a store or wherever, I always pay attention to where bathrooms are, and often will ask where they are even if i have absolutely no urge to go. Another thing I do is if it's gonna be a long day away from home, or my guts are a little unhappy, I wear the dreaded depends and have put together my "crap kit", a bag with extra depends, pads, underwear, wipes, plastic bags (to put the yucky stuff in), and even an extra pair of shorts/pants. It is annoying and a bother, and obviously the goal is to not get to the point where i would need that stuff, but it does ease my mind a bit and (unfortunately) comes in handy sometimes. Can't help you w/ the immodium dosage, etc., but could you call your doc and ask them about how much is safe to take? Explain the situation and that it would be a temporary thing, hopefully they will be understanding and help you out. I hope you find a way to feel more comfortable traveling and that you go on your trip!! Wherever you are going, if you don't know the language, be sure to look up the word bathroom. Wish I could be of more help.
Good luck and I hope you go and have a wonderful trip!!
