Hello,
I'm new to all this but I've been going crazy and need some sort of help/ discussion format for all of this.
So since the age of 21 (I'm 25) I've had bowel problems. It's been mixture of constipation and diahrrea. At 23 I had a colonoscopy and everything was fine so they packed me home and said that I had IBS and to destress (I have GAD, so ha) and to lose weight which I've been trying to do (I also have PCOS which makes things difficult).
I've been living with this and sometimes it's fine and I don't notice the symptoms and some times it's bad. about 3 weeks ago I noticed severe rectal bleeding (normally there is only enough blood to cause a smear) so I went to see the GP. She used a camera and said I had inflamed piles so that was it I thought but she sent me to get blood tests to be safe.
Get the blood tests back and my CRP is 28. I got new blood tests done yesterday and was told today that the ESR and CRP were still way too high and elevated. I've been transferred to a gastroenterologist but I have a big problem: I've just taken a contract job in The Bahamas to pay off my college loans. Big problem is that I won't have health insurance there. I might see a private doctor before I leave to at least find out what the next steps are but the likelihood of my being able to have tests in the UK are slim... To make this long story short I'm scared. She says the likelihood of cancer because I'm 25 is slim but still a possibility. With my symptoms (floating stools, diarrhea, constipation, gas, bloating, smelly passes, blood and mucus) I'm scared it's something like cancer. If it's an IBD, fine, I can handle that but does anyone have experience with this? If it's an IBD, what kind might it be? I'm just worried it's bowel or pancreatic cancer...
xx
