should I get an Abdominal Pelvis CT-- worried about the extra radiation!

I know I am being redundant in explaining my symptoms but I have been having loose greenish stools for the past 4 months. I get cramps rush to the bathroom every morning 2-3 times. I never had bowel issues before. I have had numerous blood tests, a stool sample, abdominal ultrasound and a colonoscopy and they are all negative. My doctor told me to get an abdominal pelvic Ct, but since I have had so many in the past (not one done to that area) I am worried to get more.
What do you guys think? Did you all have Cts before you got a diagnosis of IBS?

Your DR is just trying to be thorough.

I realize you had your scope yesterday, but the final results will not be known until the pathology comes back from the biopsies your GI took during the scope.

When you meet with your GI to discuss the results of the scope, have a lengthy discussion about the pros and cons of the abdominal CT. Why does s/he recommend it? What are the possible findings?

I have seen how anxious you get over the radiation exposure from a CT, so I would say that the benefit of this test is probably not enough considering the emotional cost to you.

I have had an abdominal CT and it found no pathology in my gut but did give me really good information about my slow motility and my spine, so overall I am glad I had that test.

Thanks Kazbern for replying to my post. I guess my only concern is cancer that it will pick up. If my doctor is not concerned for cancer then I would rather do without it.

Cna I ask you the biopsies taken during colonoscopy, what do they reveal? If god forbid it was C, he would have seen it during the scope right?

Right, if he didn't see any polyps then you don't have bowel cancer.

The biopsies are looking for inflammation, which can cause the symptoms you're having.

Can I ask you are there other cancers other than bowel cancer that a CT can pick up that would cause similar symptoms?

I don't know.... I have health anxiety and I always think of the worst case scenario :( My brother is a physician and he truly believes all my symptoms are a result of anxiety... it probably is.. Thank you for answering my questions. I just get fixated on every feeling.
