Hi Folks. If this can help you, great. Everyone is different.
I have found some things which work for me. I have poorly functioning gall bladder[that is inoperable] and a liver that seems to like to produce too many bile salts. My solution is not perfect but better that being on Cholestyramine for the rest of my life. Unfortunately Cholestyramine worked well for 3 years but now that drug has contributed my stomach to moving into Chronic Irrititable Gastritis which gives the same level of pain as having a baby. I am not a doctor so please consult one before trying any of this, but if you can take Cholestyramine, I would suggest it with caution, long term use did have a horrible side effect on my stomach lining. The stomach lining gets so irritated that it cannot take the normal stomach acids. So that means lots more meds which has another side effect: more diarrhea. I think you get the picture.
I have moved my diet to high fibre/high protein of beans, eggs etc, low gluten, low acid, NO Caffeine. If I binge on cheap carbs or sweets, alcohol, pop etc, I return to diarrhea. I can't even think of ice cream, lol.
In the mornings, I take my gastritis pill (Protonix) and wait a hour then eat a handful of raw natural almonds(no salt, no baked) with a calcium supplement. They bind with the bile salts that have arisen in the digestive tract overnight and slow up the colon. Sometimes I take a Lactobacillus sporogenes/Glutamine naturopathic tablet to help out. Tylenol with codeine sometimes helps too, but it is very toxic. At night before bed, I eat more almonds.
This "solution" allows for me to manage my toilet time to once per day. Sometimes those stools are normal, sometimes they are loose and sometimes I need help for constipation. I still carry around wetwipes for emergencies but haven't had to use them in a long time.
The other thing I tried was supernatural. I am a christian and went to a christian healing meeting with a christian healer. After I got prayed for, it worked to the point where I can do the above. Prior to that meeting I couldn't even think of living a life without Cholestyramine, but now it is getting better. So I got a 50% miracle, not a full one. After years of being desperate, I'll try anything.
