Fissure? Internal hemorrhoids?

Hey guys,

Ongoing issues over here, can't seem to get a diagnosis that sticks. Amitriptyline seemed to cure my symptoms for a month but they just came back eventually and so I'm headed to the doctor again in a few weeks. Sigh.

Anyway my question is this: my colorectal surgeon said he saw a fissure on my examination but I've never had the severe pain others talk about, so I just wondered has anyone else had one that, after a bowel movement, creates a dull ache? I feel this ache coming from quite a specific location and it seems to go away if I'm standing up/walking around. Also, does anyone know if they continue to bleed after going to the bathroom? Because I also have mucus with blood streaks and I've had scopes which haven't found any inflammatory bowel disease so I can only think that I have something in my rectum which bleeds occasionally and mixes with mucus that hangs about there?

It's a mess, hoping for some insight from one of you sweet people. X

Hi Greyblazer, yes I have had fissures that caused discomfort kind of pain but not extreme pain. I also have the mucus and small specks of blood when wiping. I also have had a fissure that caused bit more blood (that was scary) . I know it's such a ewww yuk subject but so many suffer with all this stuff. I used to hate going to the dr bout this cause I knew they d have to check..

I have internal hemorrhoids and they often bleed the way you are describing. Your doc should do a rectal exam and then can determine if it is a fissure or hemmies. Steroid suppositories help a lot when it happens.

I get mucus when I poop a lot at once. I think this is pretty normal. I do have Crohn's, that I think is in remission, but I also have pretty bad IBS
