Corn syrup and sugar alcohols should be avoided especially if you suffer with IBS or any other gastro conditions...it's been researched and stated that as little as 1/2 stick of extra gum can cause D, cramps, gas and bloating...specific sugar alcohols are sorbitol, lactitol, mannitol, maltitol, and xylitol...start reading lables in everything before you ingest it to avoid unnecessary symptoms due to these ingredients.
Sugar promotes bacterial overgrowth which can throw off the balance of the gut flora also causing above symptoms, so I cut sugar almost completely out of my diet...processed foods aren't any good health wise either.
