no official diagnosis

1) 64 yr old white male. I have been a chronic pain patient for more than 20 years due to motor vehicle accident & subsequent surgeries. I have a subcutaneous pump that injects Dilaudid directly into my spinal column. I also take 90-270 (amount has varied over the years... Currently @ 90) milligrams of morphine every day to supplement that.

2) i once called 911 on myself in screaming pain. My PCP told the ER people "he's depressed... Give him an antidepressant and send him home". 5 days later i had emergency surgery to remove my gall bladder.

3) i get so nauseous periodically that i consider calling 911. A bowel movement gives instant relief.

4) Diagnosed with Opioid Induced Constipation. What I am given by the doctor takes care of that. But it spreads my nausea out until i am nauseous all of the time. when I tell my doctor about this he just looks at me. I ask for a colonoscopy thinking that I MIGHT have IBS or something similar. The doctor agrees & says he will make an appointment for me. Three months later I still don't have an appointment.

I cannot think of anything else relevant. Does anyone have any idea of what I might do about the nausea?

P. S. Don't know why I didn't think of this before.... Also have Hep "C" and diabetes...


Chronic pain controls EVERYTHING.

HAVE called dr. back... Resp was "oh... Working on that today"... Never heard anything back... Typical... I talk to him about symptoms & he just looks at me... Have about given up on trusting doctors... Don't believe that they are any better qualified to be a doctor than a car mechanic is... At one time there used to be day spas down in abandoned radium mines so that people could go and breathe that nice & healthy radioactive gas... I swear... This was a medical practice... And now almost every day you hear about something that USED to be considered healthy and now turns out to be deleterious to your health... Just hoped i might could get a tentative diagnosis here regarding relationships between nausea & bm...

To repeat... In the past, Sporadic episodic nausea given instant relief by bm. Then diagnosed with Opioid Induced Constipation... Which was solved by meds given... But now nausea has gone from being severe & episodic to low-grade and constant. Why is nausea linked to bm? IBS? Or some similar malady?

Oh... The opioid thing... That is "Interthecal dilaudid" PLUS "90mg morphine" daily... AND I've been doing this for 20+ years.
