Welcome! I had subtotal colectomy on 2/22/05 and am doing great, best thing I ever did! I encourage you to go to the Ostomy board, there are is a thread titled "Total Colectomy" there are 7 parts now. We've had this title going for awhile. There is LOTS and LOTS of good information about our problems before surgery, leading up to surgery, what happened in the hospital and recovery.
