Well the weight of a baby will certainly alter your urination patterns (usually makes it more frequent, although I think some women have difficulty urinating as well). And enlarged prostates in men make urinating more difficult as well. So I wouldn't see why heavy, impacted bowels wouldn't put pressure on the bladder or the urinary tract and make it hard to pee.
The other thing that I have read is that it is very easy for bowel problems to cross over to the urinary tract (and vagina, if you are a woman) and vica versa. One doctor I read said that as close together all of those things are down there, it was amazing, really, that we didn't have more problems on average than we do. Ulcers that Crohn's people get can cross over from the bowels into the vagina and/or urinary tract. Urinary tract infections can cross over as yeast infections in the vagina and into the bowels, or go from the bowels to the vagina to the urinary tract. Yeast overgrowth seems to cause infections in all three places and is bad about crossing from one to the other.
You might want to talk to your doctor and see if increasing your water intake would help both problems. I'd hate for you to drink a lot more water only to need to go really bad and not be able to, but I think it should work that the more you drink, the easier it will be to pee. And hopefully it will help you to have BMs too.
