Hi Robertle,
First, how old are you? Have you ever had a colonoscopy? I would have thought your doc would have preferred an colonoscopy. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I get the feeling you should try a different doctor.
There are lots of non-cancerous things that can cause funky stools.
What did your doc say you should do? He was a gastroenterologist, right?
Thanks for replying. I am 36 years old male. I have never had a colonoscopy before.
My gastroenterologist first gave me a Fecal occult blood test. The result was negative. Then he said I only need to do a sigmoidoscopy. He found nothing by that. Not even hemorrhoid. He said he will not do a colonoscopy for someone only have one time bleeding.
One month later, I found blood on stool surface again. I went to see him. He gave me an anoscopy and found hemorrhoids. He suggested me to take more fiber food and if hemorrhoid could not be recovered, I can also consider a procedure to remove it. He said I did not need to do a colonoscopy as the hemorrhoid was found and the chance for me to get a colon cancer is very low at my age. He asked whether I have any change of bowel habit and some other things. I said I didn't found any obvious change.
After that, I found blood on the stool a few times. Not so often, one or two times each month. Each time, it happened in one or two continuous days. The bleeding usually comes with big and dry stool. Sometimes, I can only found blood on one side of the stool. Sometimes the blood can also be found on the paper or toilet. But these symptoms can not distinguish cancer and hemorrhoid. Is that right?
I have just recently noticed a weird stool shape. But I haven't talked about
this with my doctor yet.
I know my chance may be low. But that doesn't mean that I can not get it. My previous workplace had an X-ray machine just upstairs without proper protection for the downstairs room. I am a bit worried that the x-ray may damage my body.
