Hello everyone,
Has anyone here had surgery to correct malrotation? what was your situation before? Have you seen improvement in terms of level of chronic pain / frequency of bowel obstruction? Have you had any re-occurrence of volvulus since?
was it:
-Ladd's open surgery?
-Ladd's laparascopic?
-surgery with Dr Kareem in Cleaveland?
- Or something else?
I was recently admitted to hospital with a midgut volvulus a few weeks ago and found out for the first time that my intestines are malrotated (specifically non-rotation). They were very close to operating straight away due to concern of potential ischemia. I had always wrongly thought that the partial and complete intestinal obstructions I have had through my life were purely due to the adhesions left from gastroschisis repair as a baby. Now that it has been found that I have a predisposition for volulus, the recommendation is surgery asap to correct the malrotation and eliminate/reduce the risk of ischemia in the future.
thank you for your time and for sharing.
warmest best wishes to you all, Silfan
