Chest pain relieved by bowel movement

Has anyone ever had terrible chest pains first thing in the morning? I had this one day last week and thought I was having a heart attack. Actually it was a sharp pain in the upper left chest that came and went for awhile. Then I had a bowel movement and it all went away.

I had a small bowel resection in 2008 due to a blockage then I seemed to go into IBS after that. Mostly constipation and pain. I get a lot of chest pains. Some is Costochondritis.. easy to tell when that is kicking up. But some pain is trickier. Scary stuff.

Just wondered if a BM relieves others with this problem.

Hi, When I first got UC many years ago I also had severe pain in my chest and thought I was having a heart attack. The Dr just laughed and said unlikely since I was 29 smile The pain from the intestines can often radiate into that area. It did get better over time and eventually stopped.

UC = ulceractive colitis.

I have experienced the same thing. The pain radiates to the chest and shoulders. Especially after a colonoscopy or my latest surgery. They pump air in you and you get the pain. It's weird how it radiates and when you tell this to someone they won't believe you but it really is the case.
