Hi all,
I hope this is an appropriate forum in which to post. I'm writing to see if anyone might have any insight, I'm at my wits' end, and my doctors seem perplexed, too. Long story short, I've lost weight without trying over the last several years and no matter how much I eat, nothing seems to stick. I have had every single test possible done, some several times, and nothing comes out abnormal. While I am truly grateful for that, I would like an answer. In addition to the weight loss/inability to gain, I have hair thinning on my head and body and other symptoms that come and go. All rheum tests are perfect and my nutrition panel is stellar. I did have the gastric emptying test done a few months ago which showed 88% emptying where it should be 90% or above, not much of difference to have that be the stand out diagnosis. I started getting reflux over a year ago and found that the PPIs made it worse so I don't take them. I've been eating more vegetables lately for dinner and notice that I get stomach pain a few hours later. I wait several hours before lying down but get the coughing at night, which I think is reflux. In the morning I am still gassy with slight stomach pain which goes away after a few hours. I'm reading that this is classic gastroparesis. Anyway, I guess this is my long-winded way of asking if this sounds like what any of you have gone through. Can gastroparesis cause these weight issues even if I am consuming a ton of calories? Doctors haven't been much of a help, I'm learning that I need to be my own advocate. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks for reading. Be well
