I was diagnosed with IBS after struggling with intermittent diarrhea, bloating, and abdominal cramping for the last two years. This morning I passed a normal formed stool, with a very strange ribbon-like object sticking out of it. I was very freaked out that it may be a tapeworm segment, as that would also explain my symptoms and I really felt like my doctor did not do much digging before labeling me with IBS.
I did some poking around online and it looks more similar to liver fluke skins I'm seeing in other forums. I have spent 4+ months in SE Asia and Central America within the last 3 years so nothing is out of the question. But honestly, to me it looks like a potato skin. Have any of you ever seen something like this in your stool?? Maybe because of my diarrhea I'm not digesting vegetables properly?
